Volunteer Invigilators Needed
Abbot Hall Art Gallery
We are looking for volunteers to help invigilate Abbot Hall’s lively exhibitions programme. This is a great opportunity to become part of a small friendly team and to gain an insight into the daily running of an important regional art gallery.

Volunteer invigilators are an essential component of the exhibitions programme and allow Abbot Hall to continue to borrow works of international significance from key institutions and private lenders. Invigilators play a vital role in providing a warm welcome to visitors to the gallery, and a friendly and communicative manner when dealing with the public is important, therefore, as is an interest in art.

A full introduction to duties is provided and support from curatorial and education staff is available at all times. Volunteers are given the chance to meet one another, as well as being given an introductory tour of each exhibition, at Invigilator Coffee Mornings four times a year.

The galleries are open Mon – Sat, 10.30am – 5pm (4pm Nov – Feb). Both weekend and weekday volunteering opportunities are available. We ask you to sign up for exhibition invigilator slots several weeks in advance but volunteering can be flexible to fit around other interests and responsibilities.
